Discover the treasures of Lacanau

Going on a trip to the Médoc Atlantique and staying at Le Tedey campsite in Lacanau means choosing a land of possibilities. Facing the ocean, the surfing culture is strong here, similar to the West Coast of the United States!

The California of Bordeaux

Wide open spaces, a surfing destination with miles of wild beaches and waves that break often, the aptly named California of Bordeaux invites you to enjoy your holiday in grandiose, inspiring nature.

You can experience different atmospheres: festive by the ocean, rejuvenating by the lake or traditional by the estuary, so wander freely following your desires and the mood of the moment!

If there is a spot that is worth the detour to feel the Californian atmosphere of the coast, it is Vendays-Montalivet beach, a few kilometers from Lacanau. With colorful lifeguard stands, vintage wetsuits and surfboards lined up on the dunes, you’re sure to get away from it all.

The Atlantic coast: Wonders to explore!

Discover the Atlantic coast and the Bay of Arcachon, beautiful places with long sandy beaches that you can visit near Bordeaux in southwestern France.

Dune of Pilat

A 1-hour drive from Lacanau and Le Tedey campsite, don’t miss climbing this huge sand dune in front of Arguin Bank… The kids will love it!

You can only really appreciate how immense the Dune of Pilat is from the top. The breathtaking view of Arguin Bank, the dunes along the beaches of Pilat sur Mer and the paragliders that twirl in the sky in the distance is a great reward.

Or, run down the dune to the beach, as fast as possible, falling a few times, rolling in the sand. A magical experience!

The Médoc wine route

30 minutes from Lacanau, discover the castles, exceptional vineyards, and temple of the wine route, the famous city of wine in Bordeaux.

In the land of a thousand and one castles

From beautiful mansions to sumptuous Renaissance buildings, from Versailles in Médoc to the oriental palace, there are castles everywhere! From Bordeaux to Grave point, you can drive along a circuit and witness this unique architectural diversity found nowhere else in the world. You will learn all about the history and expertise of the 8 Appellations d’Origine Contrôlée and the winegrowers of the Médoc. From north to south Médoc, Haut Médoc, Saint Estèphe, Pauillac, Saint Julien, Listrac, Moulis-en-Médoc and Margaux are a remarkable area you will enjoy visiting.

Surfing in Lacanau, one of the best spots in the Médoc Atlantique

Welcome to the temple of surfing, Lacanau-Océan! On your stomach, on your knees or standing up, it’s the perfect opportunity to get on a board for the first or thousandth time, and experience the unique sensations of surfing, wakeboarding, bodyboarding and windsurfing.

Every August, Lacanau becomes the Mecca of the surfing world with the Caraibos Lacanau Pro. It’s an opportunity to see the best international surfers compete against each other while experiencing an event that brings the town to life for several weeks with artisan booths, sponsor activities and live concerts.

However, the ocean is not only for surfers! And if you want to stroll and enjoy the beach, Lacanau has leisure activities for all, monitored swimming areas, and clubs on the beach where you can enjoy the benefits of the sea breeze.
