If there is a spot that is worth the detour to feel the Californian atmosphere of the coast, it is Vendays-Montalivet beach, a few kilometers from Lacanau. With colorful lifeguard stands, vintage wetsuits and surfboards lined up on the dunes, you’re sure to get away from it all.

You can only really appreciate how immense the Dune of Pilat is from the top. The breathtaking view of Arguin Bank, the dunes along the beaches of Pilat sur Mer and the paragliders that twirl in the sky in the distance is a great reward.
Or, run down the dune to the beach, as fast as possible, falling a few times, rolling in the sand. A magical experience!
