Five must-see excursions from your campsite in Lacanau

1. Lac de Lacanau by bike

From your rental accommodation or tent at our Lacanau campsite, hop on your bike for a beautiful route along the lake. The route skirts the calm banks, passes through the pine forest and offers superb views of the sparkling waters.

The complete loop, around 29 km for a tour of the lake, is recommended for the more athletic. It combines cycle paths and road sections.

For a walk accessible to all, even the youngest (with a trailer or children’s bike), a section of cycle path is all you need to enjoy the scenery. Viewpoints and small beaches will allow you to recharge your batteries as a family, and create moments of complicity in the open air by the lake.

2. Cousseau pond nature reserve

This protected site lies to the north of the campsite. Stroll through a landscape of marshes, wet meadows and wooded dunes. A loop of around 4 hours’ walking is possible from the campsite, for hikers (not including the tour of the pond). For families, simply park your car in the Marmande parking lot, right next to the access path to the nature reserve. Bike parking is also available.

You may come across storks, deer or cistude tortoises. A soothing excursion, ideal for reconnecting with nature and discovering the wealth of local wildlife. It’s a short, easy and well-maintained hike, with birdwatching observatories.

3. The bike path to the ocean

From the campsite, a beautiful cycle path winds through the pine forest towards Lacanau-Océan, around 7 km away. The arrival on the ocean is always a magical moment, with the sound of the waves, the smell of iodine and the salty wind.

Enjoy a swim and an ice cream break before heading back in the opposite direction.

4. Twilight stroll on Tedey Point

Without leaving the campsite, treat yourself to a slow, contemplative stroll along the Pointe du Tedey. This small, natural, wooded promontory on the shores of the lake is one of the best places to watch the sun set.

The light gilds the trunks, the water is tinged with pink and the silence gently settles in, a truly suspended moment, perfect for ending a day of exploration, just before returning to your rental or campsite pitch.

5. Mountain biking in the Landes forest

For the more athletic, head for the forest trails ! Just a few pedal strokes from the campsite, and the trails open up to you: gentle single tracks, sandy paths, secret clearings… The effort is quickly forgotten in the face of total immersion in the forest. Enjoy an invigorating activity, with adults or with adventure-seeking teenagers.

Bonus excursion

Discover Le Moutchic, a peaceful village on the north shore of Lacanau lake, just 3 km from the campsite. A greenway runs alongside the lake to this seaside hamlet, which is very easy for families to get to.

Its large supervised beach is popular with families for its freshwater swimming and friendly atmosphere.

The cycle path running alongside the pine forest links Le Moutchic directly to Le Tedey campsite and the Etang de Cousseau nature reserve, providing the ideal setting for gentle or sporty walks in the heart of nature, at your own pace.
