Camping in Lacanau in September: enjoy an Indian summer by the lake
September in Lacanau is perhaps the most beautiful of seasons. Temperatures remain mild, the lake regains its serenity, and the pine forest exhales its fragrances with an intensity that belongs to these days. At camping Le Tedeyin Lacanau, the last weeks of the season are open for booking: we invite you to make the most of them before availability closes.
Our accommodation available in September
Camping Le Tedey offers three ranges of mobile homes, each designed for a different level of comfort.
- Comfort: theessentials done right – comforter and pillows included, for those who travel light.
- Premium: spacious, partly covered terrace, dishwasher, plancha, air conditioning, TV and bed linen included. Everyday comfort, without thinking about it.
- Exclusive: master suite with private bathroom, beds made on arrival, bed linen and towels, end-of-stay cleaning. The hotel standard, right on the lake.
The campsite also offers unusual accommodation – tiny houses and tent lodges – for those looking for an experience even more rooted in nature.
Bare pitches are available for tents, caravans and motorhomes. Some pitches even offer a direct view of the lake.

September in Lacanau: light, calm, a season apart
There’s something special in the Lacanau air in September. Families who return every year know: late summer on the lake is a different way to travel. Mornings are cool under the pine trees, afternoons retain the warmth of summer, and the lake takes on a golden hue that photos can only capture imperfectly.
Fewer people on the roads, on the beaches, on the water. Pitches become available, terraces breathe, and the campsite regains that slow rhythm which is, at heart, the true promise of a successful vacation. For travellers fleeing the busiest weeks, September is the obvious answer.
In Gironde, and more widely in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, Indian summer is a climatic reality. Conditions are often just right for swimming, paddling, pedaling or simply sitting by the water’s edge and watching the lake.
Le Tedey in September: nature as you’ve always imagined it
Le Tedey campsite is located in Le Moutchic, on the edge of the forest on the shores of Lac de Lacanau. No swimming pool here, but the lake itself, with its calm waters, fine sandy beach and the freedom that only a natural body of water can offer.
In September, this environment comes into its own. The number of visitors drops, but the services remain open: grocery store, Le Sunrise restaurant with its terrace overlooking the lake, laundry service, well-kept sanitary blocks. You can enjoy the essentials, without the density of the peak season.
The campsite is also pet-friendly – a detail which, for many families or couples, makes all the difference when it comes to choosing the right campsite.

Things to do on the lake in September

Water sports on Lacanau lake
The Tedey beach gives direct access to the lake. Moutchic Loisirs, located on the campsite site, offers canoes, stand-up paddles and pedalos for hire. The Tedey Yacht Club, located directly on the beach, offers windsurf, wingfoil and mini-catamaran rentals. In September, conditions are often ideal: steady wind, clear surface, fewer boats on the water.
If you’re a fisherman, the lake is the place to be – with a valid fishing licence, available from cartedepeche.fr or the lake police.
Cycling, forest and ocean: explore the surrounding area at your own pace
Just 8 kilometers from the campsite, Lacanau Océan and its Atlantic beaches are easily reached by bike. The cycle path cuts through the Landes forest in a silence that September makes even more present. Bicycles can be rented from bikes available for hire on site.
Around the lake, the villages of Carcans and Hourtin, and the lake basin that connects them, form an aquatic territory unique in France – one of the largest freshwater lakes in the country. A canoe or paddle trip to Carcans-Maubuisson is one of those experiences you don’t plan but talk about for a long time.

Le Sunrise restaurant and grocery store: everything on site
The terrace of restaurant Le Sunriseterrace, overlooking the lake, is one of those places where mealtime becomes a moment in itself. Seasonal dishes, pizzas, burgers – the kitchen is open for lunch and dinner. The onsite grocery store, with its fresh produce, fruit and vegetables, bread and pastries, lets you organize your day in complete autonomy.
